Short Term Allowances

live in harmony with one another;
be sympathetic,
love as brothers,
be compassionate and humble.
1 Peter 3:8 NIV

It's so hard to identify the hummers.
The perching one is probably
a female Ruby Red throat.
I watched her guard this feeder all day -for days.
The thinner hummer, slightly decurved bill, long neck,
is the ONLY hummer she did not chase off right away.

It was so funny to observe.
She turned her head back and forth
in her active guarding stance
while the other drank

tic toc...tic toc
time is almost up!

Then, in a flash movement,
you can see the other hummer
quickly backing up.
All it took was one LOOK!
time was up!

  1. Sweet shots of the Ruby~throated Hummers! I believe the juveniles look like a female. This could be her prodigy that she's allowing to drink.
Thank you for visiting my blog :-))

  2. You're probably right, Cindy. There have been a lot of these 'younger' looking ones this summer. Thanks for stopping by to peek at my hummers :)
